Welcome to Elevate Speech Therapy! I’m thrilled to share a little about myself and the journey that led me to establish this practice. My name is Gretchen, and I am a dedicated speech pathologist with a deep passion for helping individuals of all ages achieve their communication and swallowing goals.
Before becoming a speech pathologist, I spent ten years working in special education. This invaluable experience gave me extensive skills in supporting children and adults with complex needs, fostering my ability to tailor therapy approaches to meet unique challenges. My work in special education instilled in me a profound understanding of the importance of individualised care, which remains central to my practice today.
After transitioning to speech pathology, I gained two years of hands-on experience working in a private practice and a private rehabilitation hospital. These roles allowed me to develop expertise in treating a wide range of conditions, from developmental speech and language delays in children to adult communication and swallowing difficulties.
I have also had the privilege of working with individuals facing progressive neurological conditions such as primary progressive aphasia, Huntington's disease, motor neurone disease, and Parkinson's disease. Supporting clients through these challenging journeys has reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that enhances quality of life.
At Elevate Speech Therapy, my mission is to empower each client—whether a child finding their voice, a teen navigating social communication, or an adult recovering from illness or injury. I believe in creating a supportive, engaging environment where therapy feels both effective and enjoyable.
